Mens Day

Today is in Germany mens day. That means, the men celebrate them self only for being a man. They do that with a lot of alcohol and barbeque outside. Trational the parties are harder, as far you a come outside the cities. They must´n drive cars of course, so they use old bikes. You can see untrained men on rusty bikes they use only once a year. The bikes are decorated with lilac branches.

Very important, a walking stick with a bell.

The Temporarily Bridge

As I wrote a few weeks ago, the old bridge of Karlshorst get new build. The first step was a temporaliy bridge on one of the 3 railway lines on top. The other 2 will follow at the next weekends. They build it at the weekends because of the totaly blocking of the very important street and tram lines for 4 days.
The old bridge is about 100 years old, rusty and instable, when a train is crossing it.

The blue bridge is only for the cables
On top of the new bridge part one

The Streets Of Essen

I noticed, that I was made for Berlin and not for cities so far in the west. The streets in there are smaller an has seldom trees. The houses are smoothy, uniform and boring, I missed the facade decoration and old (reconstructed) houses.

A funny dog, "How does the police?"
He answers "Hoohooo"

A sad shopping passage, nearly all shops are closed at the same time.
They seem to have a problem with the landlord.

In these houses are a lot of empty flats. The last people are very poor.

The noise barrier is nice painted

Barnim

Barnim is a landscape what starts at the edge of Berlin and goes into the neighbour county of Brandenburg. The part in Berlin looks very different from what you expect to see in Berlin. See the pics, each plade of gras belongs to Berlin. There are cows and wild gees to see, there even brood a pair of cranes and bats.
After the ride throw the nature reservation there where a meeting in the reservation station. I got a little snack of ecological food.

Pirats Party, what else.

"Schwalbe - unplattbar"

This sign was lieing on the way home.
And tomorrow I need to buy a new one an to repair it. Usually I wanted to make what else.

forever

Berlin has got more than 200 cemetarys, 4 of them are jewish. There you can find famous people like, Max Liebermann (painter) Ullstein (Publisher), Berthold Kempinski (cuisiner), Adolf Jahndorf (founder of the KaDeWe-shoppingcenter) and many more.
The cemetary in Prenzlauer Berg was establisht in 1827 and were used until the 1930th. There are about 25,000 graves, much of them were demaged by the nazis wile the world war 2. You can still see the destructions, the hebrew writings are chopped, stones are broken or knocked over.

Squirrels Siesta

My window squirrel where inside my room today in the morning for the first time in this season. He went on to my printer and sought nuts. Now he is having a nap in its nestbox.
You only see the nice red tail, but where else can see a wild squirrel sleeping?

May 1th

The May the 1th in Berlin is infamous for escalating demonstrations and fights in Kreuzberg since 1987. But there are also peacefully family celebrations on the streets everywhere in the city. Stages with music an dance performances, games for children and presentation of social working societies.
